Any tablet becomes the kitchen screen

Paid orders appear in about two seconds, chime until someone sees them, and if nobody is watching, Settle pauses ordering on its own.

Kitchen

Built for a loud, busy kitchen

No app store, no extra hardware. Open a browser on the tablet you already own, pair it with a short code, done.

  • Table number readable from two metres away
  • New orders chime every minute until someone acknowledges them
  • Tickets turn amber at 10 minutes and red at 20
  • Orders from the same table group together
  • Works on any tablet or laptop with a browser

If the kitchen screen goes dark, ordering stops

If the screen stops responding while you are open, Settle pauses guest ordering by itself and emails you. Guests see that the kitchen is briefly closed instead of paying for food nobody is cooking.

Friday, 19:40. Full terrace.

A busy stretch of service, exactly as the screen plays it.

  1. 19:41

Three tables pay within a minute. Three tickets land, already paid, sorted by arrival.

  2. 19:42

Table 12 orders a second round from two phones. Both tickets group under the same table.

  3. 19:43

The chime repeats every sixty seconds until someone taps the new tickets. Then it goes quiet.

  4. 19:52

One ticket has been open for ten minutes and turns amber. At twenty it would turn red.

  5. 19:55

The kitchen taps Done. Out on the terrace, the guest's phone shows it the same moment.

From paid to plated

  1. 01

A guest pays at the table. The ticket appears about two seconds later.

  2. 02

The screen chimes until the kitchen acknowledges the ticket.

  3. 03

One tap moves it to In preparation, another to Done.

  4. 04

The guest's status page updates at every step.

Built for the night everything goes wrong

Wi-Fi drops, dishes run out, tablets fall asleep. Here is what the screen does about it, so your team does not have to.

A ticket sits unseen

The chime never gives up; it repeats every sixty seconds until someone acknowledges the ticket. If a new order still sits there after five minutes, you get an email.

The Wi-Fi blips

The moment the connection returns, the screen reloads every open order from scratch. No ticket goes missing because the Wi-Fi hiccupped mid-service.

A dish runs out

One tap marks it sold out, straight from the kitchen screen. The dish greys out on every guest's phone in the same moment.

The tablet goes dark

Settle keeps the tablet awake through service, so nobody has to tap it back to life between tickets. If the screen does go silent while you are open, ordering pauses by itself.

What the kitchen never deals with

  • Unpaid tickets. A ticket only exists once the money is in.
  • An app store. The screen is just a browser tab.
  • Printer rolls, ribbons and ticket spikes.
  • Extra hardware. The tablet you already own is enough.
  • Order slips lost between the pass and the floor.

Kitchen screen questions

What hardware do I need?

Any tablet or laptop with a browser. You pair it once with a short code from the portal and it stays signed in after restarts; you can unpair it any time. Nothing to install, nothing to buy.

What happens when the internet drops?

The screen shows a red banner and resyncs every open ticket as soon as the connection returns. If the kitchen stays silent for three minutes while you are open, Settle pauses guest ordering and emails you, so no paid order goes unseen.

Can I pause ordering myself?

Yes. Pause and resume sit right on the kitchen screen and in the portal, with a reason your guests see word for word. You can also raise the prep time or mark single dishes sold out instead of closing entirely.

How do guests know their food is coming?

Every order has a live status page. As the kitchen moves the ticket from New to In preparation to Done, the guest's phone follows along, with your prep time as the estimate.
