Questions & answers
Straight answers on going live, payments, guests, the kitchen screen, data and pricing. If something is missing, write to us through the contact form on the About page.
Getting started
How long does it take to go live?
Under an hour for most restaurants: account, venue, menu, QR codes, payments. The setup checklist walks you through, and you can pause and resume any time.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Guests order in the browser, the kitchen screen runs in a browser, and the dashboard is a website. There is nothing to install anywhere.
Can I see it before committing?
Yes. Request access and we get back to you quickly, usually with a live demo menu you can try from your phone.
Can I pause or stop ordering?
Any time, with one switch, and optionally a reason your guests actually see. If your kitchen screen goes offline, Settle even pauses ordering for you.
Payments & payouts
Which payment methods do guests have?
TWINT, Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Everything is processed by Stripe, our payment partner.
When do I receive my money?
Payouts land on your IBAN on a rolling basis, typically within a few business days. Every payment is listed in your dashboard with its fee and your net; the payouts themselves you follow in your Stripe dashboard.
What appears on my guest’s card statement?
A payment reference carrying your restaurant’s name. Guests recognize the charge, which keeps disputes rare.
How do refunds work?
From the order view: refund single lines or a custom amount. VAT is split correctly, a numbered credit note is issued, and our fee for the refunded order comes back to you.
For your guests
Do guests need an app or account?
No. The QR opens a website. Ordering and paying takes no download, no account and no login.
What languages do guests see?
Menu, payment, status and receipt are native in German, French, Italian and English. Your menu itself goes further: AI translates it into the languages your tables actually speak, Chinese and Arabic included, and falls back quietly to your base language wherever a translation is missing.
How are allergens handled?
You tag the 14 declarable allergens per item in the menu builder; guests see them on every item detail. Untagged items show an ask-our-staff note.
Do guests get a receipt?
Yes. On the order status page immediately, as a PDF, and by email if they leave an address. Receipt links stay valid for 13 months.
The kitchen screen
What hardware does the kitchen need?
Any tablet or laptop with a browser. Pair it once with a short code and the board stays signed in.
What happens if the wifi drops?
The board shows a red banner and re-syncs automatically. If the kitchen stays unreachable for three minutes, guest ordering pauses itself and you get an email.
Will the kitchen hear new orders?
Yes. A chime plays on every new ticket and repeats every minute until someone acknowledges it, and tickets change color when they wait too long.
What about several orders on one table?
Each guest orders and pays on their own phone; the kitchen screen groups tickets from the same table visibly so they go out together.
Data & legal
Where is the data hosted?
In Switzerland (database, Zurich region) and the EU for supporting services, in line with the Swiss Data Protection Act (nFADP).
What data do you keep about guests?
Almost none: what was ordered, which table it came from, and an email address if the guest asked for a receipt. No accounts, no profiles, nothing sold on.
Why is there no cookie banner?
Because there is nothing to consent to: no marketing cookies, no third-party trackers. The only cookies are functional, for the language choice and the guest’s own order session.
Are the receipts really VAT-correct?
Per-item rates of 8.1% and 2.6%, a per-rate breakdown on every receipt, tips outside VAT, credit notes on refunds, and CSV exports that reconcile to the receipts.
Pricing
What does Settle cost?
Plans from CHF 29 per month, billed yearly, plus a commission from 0.5% per paid order. Payment processing is billed separately at published rates.
Do you touch tips?
Never. Tips ride along with the payment, stay outside VAT and carry no Settle commission. Payment processing applies to the full payment, tip included, at published rates.
What do failed or abandoned orders cost?
Nothing. The commission applies only to successfully paid orders.
Is there a contract?
Plans are billed yearly per venue, and every plan starts with a free trial. You can change plans at any time; switching down to Take-Away means deactivating your other tables first, since it includes a single QR point.
